When you think about mascaras, how would you want it to be? Mascara that gives volume, buildable and also not get clumpy… That’s how I want my mascara to be. Drugstore to high street, there are so many mascaras out in the market. Smashbox X-Rated Mascara is one of these mascaras that take attention with catchy packaging.
I mostly use drugstore mascaras, there are quite a few that I love and good things is I don’t need to spend so much on them. If you are looking for good drugstore mascaras then I would highly recommend Maybelline, Max Factor and L’Oreal mascaras. Maybelline Lash Sensational is one of my favourite and after using good drugstore mascaras then I have high expectations for high street ones, understandable isn’t it? Smashbox X-Rated mascara is the latest mascara addition to my makeup bag, does it live up to its claims?
Smashbox X-Rated mascara’s unique packaging is catchy. Have you seen anything similar before? Except the packaging, the wand is different as well. It has triple threat brush that aims to mega coat and gives extra volume. If you are used to silicon wands, it might take awhile to get used to it.
Let’s start with the good… When you use this mascara, your lashes will stand out! It will give you volume and makes your lashes look thick. One coat will give you natural looking lashes, whereas two coats will give the volume you are looking for. If you’re brave enough to apply three coats then you can have dramatic volumised lashes. Volumised lashes is what you would expect from as mascara and it gives you that, but what’s the bad?
There’s only one problem that causes other problems, like a domino effect. Formula of Smahbox X-Rated mascara is too wet for my liking, because of it, it takes awhile to set down. If you want to apply the second coat, you should wait over a minute, otherwise you might end up making a mess. If you are into spider lashes trend then you don’t need to wait so long! When the formula is wet, you end up having too much product on the wand, then your lashes will get clumpy.
I have had this mascara since February and even after 5 months of waiting, I feel like the formula needs to dry out a bit more. If you used Maybelline Lash Sensational then you might be aware of the wet formula that made so many dislike it. However once the formula dries out a bit then it gives a great result. I will be waiting for it to dry out a little bit longer, I hope it will give what it claims and will be one of my favourite mascaras like Lash Sensational.
If you want to try a new mascara and you’re into fancy packaging, just give it a try in the store. I believe there are better mascaras in the market and at the moment I can’t really say much about it.
What’s your favourite high street mascara? Have you tried Smashbox X-Rated mascara or any other mascara from Smashbox?
