For many years I thought if you have oily skin, you should stay away from oils, otherwise your skin will be even more oil. It turned out I was so wrong, it is one of the myths, isn’t it? I didn’t know that you could balance the natural oils with the facial oils like jojoba, grape seed, tea tree and clove oils, which are actually friends of oily/combination skin, so watch out for them. My latest addition to my skincare routine is Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
Skincare Routine with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
My skin used to be oily, however, at the moment it is more like being combination skin. So I shouldn’t only look for products, which will balance out the natural oil but also give hydration. After reading through the ingredients and reviews online, I decided that it is time to give Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate a try.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is really lightweight and fast absorbing oil. Once you massage it to your skin, the oil is basically gone and your skin feels softer. Even after the first week, you will notice the brightened and refreshed skin with a healthy glow. The main essential oils are evening primrose oils, which are rich in omega-6 and good at preventing water loss and as well as giving healthy looking skin. Lavender oil is for a calming effect and squalene for hydrating purposes with combination of jojoba and sunflower seed oil. Since there are oils which prevents water loss and gives hydration, the skin looks firmer and hydrated. If you are dealing with dehydrated skin, you should consider adding it to your skincare routine.
It has strong lavender scent and if you are not a fan of scented skincare products then this wouldn’t make you happy. I prefer unscented products, so it took me a while to get used to the scent, but using it right before going to bed actually helps me to relax and fall asleep easier. It must be the calming feature of lavender oil.
In addition, I have a sample of Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate and Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream, which I added to my skincare routine. The Daily Reviving Concentrate has a sweet citrusy scent, which is not as overpowering as Midnight Recovery Concentrate and it is fast absorbing as well. It gets the skin softer and glowing, also it is good to apply before the makeup too. I should get the full size, this duo is really good. I stopped using Super Multi-Corrective Cream after a week, it is really moisturising and my skin doesn’t need that heavy moisturiser at the moment, however, I am sure it would be good for colder months where my skin lacks of moisture. It is supposed to aim for visible sign of aging, I wonder if it actually makes a difference.
Have you changed your skincare routine lately? What are your skincare routine essentials that you can’t live without? Do you think all these creams and serums can prevent aging and give you younger looking skin or do you believe that you should also take supplements as well as a good skincare routine?
