Isn’t it overwhelming when companies come up with so many new colours with every release? Urban Decay released 120 vice lipstick shades, Smashbox did the same with their be legendary lipsticks. When there are so many options, making a decision is not easy. Luckily Make Up For Ever only released 45 colour, 31 cream finishes and 14 matte Artist Rouge lipsticks, so it is not that hard.

Do you think is it worth to come up with that many different colours? To be honest, I find it a little bit extreme. So many shades mean spending a long time on makeup counters… When you don’t have anything planned, being on makeup counters means getting products that you don’t think about getting. This is how it happened with this Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge lipstick. It was an intense buy, luckily it wasn’t a bad decision!

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick M402 is from a matte range, which I wouldn’t say 100% matte, more like semi matte. It is not smudge prof. M402 is a brick red. It’s a bold colour with the perfect balance of red and warm brown undertones. If you love your reds, then you might want to check this out. It is not a colour I’d usually go for, however, sometimes it is good to step out of the comfort zone and try new things.

It is highly pigmented so with only one swipe you get the right amount of colour on your lips. Of course you can always over do it. It has creamy smooth formula and it doesn’t feel drying on lips, but it gets a little drier during the day. Formula is softer than MAC Retro Matte lipstick and at the end of the day you don’t need to worry about having dry lips.

I tend to consume good amount of hot drinks and also I keep biting my lips, which mean most of the lipsticks don’t last long. Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge lipstick lasts around 4 hours and some stain left behind so it doesn’t completely wear off. If you don’t do any of these things then, I am sure you can wear it over 6 hours. Lucky you…

Black sleek packaging is beautiful. It is simple, even a simple packaging can look good as you can see with this one. I still prefer the shiny gold packaging though. It has a really light floral scent, which is hardly noticeable.

There are a few other colours I want to try, I wonder if the cream ones are as good as matte ones in terms of colour pay off and long lasting.
