Winter is ahead of us. Cold affects the skin as much as the sun does and it is important to make sure your skin is well protected from the cold. Don’t you all hate it when your hands get really dry or hard during cold weathers? You always need to pay more attention to your hands, so they are soft. Do you add extra steps to your skincare routine or do you just carry on without doing anything? And what are the best hand creams?
I have a few hand creams, which have different consistencies. Some are light and some are really thick. In summer, I mostly go for light ones, which wouldn’t leave any greasy feeling on my hands, but in winter I make sure that I use one that would moisturise and protect my hand.
Light Creams
These are the creams I mostly go for in warmer seasons or days. I don’t want to have that greasy feeling on my hands and I want it to be absorbed quickly. It is actually kinda hard to find an affordable cream like that. There’s one that I really love, which is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Deep Moisture Comfort Balm. It has been one of my favourite creams for years, not only for my hands but all over my body. It is a really light cream, so it is easily spread and quickly absorbed. It leaves my skin soft, smooth, well moisturised and non greasy.
Thick Creams
We all have at least one of these white thick creams somewhere in the house. I can say these thick creams definitely leave the skin oily, but in the end the skin feels softer. Dove Intensive Moisturizing Cream is one of these thick creams. I have it for years and it doesn’t seem to finish. Most of the thick creams have really heavy creamy scent, which kinda puts me off. I guess this is one of the reasons that I still haven’t finished it. If you think you’re not going to do anything for awhile and want to get your hands moisturised then you can try that one. Just make sure not to touch anything. There’s one thick cream that I really like, it is a german cream, which is Florena Cream. I saw my fiancé using it when he had dry skin, so I tried it and I really like how well it works on dry skin. It is not the lightest, but it definitely works. It is also really cheap, I wouldn’t expect it to be that cheap actually.
Best Hand Creams for Winter
I have two creams that I use most of the time in winter. The first one is another Neutrogena product… It is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand Cream Unscented. That tiny hand cream makes wonders. This cream is really concentrated, so you only need really tiny amount of it. At first, you might think tiniest amount won’t ever make any change on your skin, however, once you apply it properly you will feel the smoothness and softness it gives to your skin. You really have to rub this in, so the cream is spreaded properly. I guess this is the only thing I don’t really like about it. Since it is really concentrated (as you can see on the photo-tiniest cream) it takes time to apply it, so I prefer not to use it when I’m in hurry, otherwise I can feel a layer of cream on my hands which I really hate. Except that this is really good for dry hands and once I apply it I don’t have to worry about the cold making any harm on my hands, it just protects it somehow. If you’re looking for an unscented hand cream for winter, go for this one.
When I was a kid I really hated Vaseline and the smell of it so I just made sure not to use it for years. When they came out with products like cocoa scented Vaseline, I knew I had to give it a try (cocoa lover). Vaseline® Jelly Cocoa Butter is another product I use quite a lot in winter. We all know how great Vaseline is in terms of moisturising the skin and leaving baby soft skin with natural glow. Since Vaseline is really thick you only need a tiny amount of it, if you apply more then you will end up having really greasy hands. It kinda creates a layer on your skin, so the cold doesn’t really make your hands dry. If you have really dry hands, then this is what you might need. Also, cocoa scent is really lovely. It is a long lasting scent, so you will smell like cocoa.
Do you actually pay attention to your hand care in winter? We only have one skin, so it is best we keep it well protected. I would definitely recommend Neutrogena and Vaseline products for winter if you’re looking for affordable and good products. These were my best hand creams…
