Let's Talk Biggest Beauty Regrets

Ela·
Let's talk biggest beauty regrets - Think about the first time you started makeup or the time you followed the popular trends. Do you look back and wonder why you did that and have urge to burn down your old photos? When you think about it, what would be your biggest beauty regret?

What's beauty? Beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. Beauty can be a crucial thing. We all make beauty mistakes, however, when you look back to your old photos, do they turn into beauty regrets?

Looking back old photos can bring back good memories but they can also make you question your choices. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking when I put on that makeup or wore something. As the time changes, our taste changes too. Can these beauty regrets be related to time change? Well, I don't think so.

Let's Talk Beauty Regrets

Orange Foundation - Seriously?

About 10-15 years ago, there weren't that many makeup brands and makeup product on the market. Foundation shades were limited and you were a lucky person if you had your colour match. I still struggle with finding my perfect match, so do you think I managed to find it back then? Well, apparently not... My neck and face were at least a few shades different. I don't remember anybody warning me about it. "Hey, why do you look that orange" would have been a good start. There are some photos that I avoid looking, I don't want to see an orange face! Now orange is the new black but back then it wasn't anything!

Unblended Eyeshadows

As I said earlier, 10-15 years ago, things were a little bit different. As usual, eyeshadows came with that sponge applicator which was useless as always. I didn't have many brushes, maybe the ones that came with my blush or so and some sponges. Think how hard it would be to apply powder eyeshadows with fingers or that tiny sponge applicator. How good can you blend it? You already know the answer. The harsh line is not really appealing!

Thin Brows - Over Plucking

Thin brows trend was a big thing, but it doesn't mean that it looked pleasing. Brows are important for defining the face, so it is best to define the brows. Can you imagine yourself without brows? Thin brows is not much different than having no brows. I wish I had listened to my mum when she told me not to over pluck my brows. I was a rebel teenager and I didn't listen to her. Some trends shouldn't be followed! Did you also follow this trend? lets_talk_biggest_beauty_regrets_2

Powder or Do Not Powder

Flash photography shows the makeup flaws, so if you powder, make sure to apply it properly otherwise you will end up having white cast on the photos. You probably saw some celebrity photos which looks like ghost, that's what happens with unblended powder. I have some photos that I can see all the bits I applied powder. Over powdering is not good and it is best to avoid it!

Sleep with the Makeup On

After a long day, going to bed might be the only thing you want, but what about your makeup? Skin covered with foundation won't be able to breath which will result in breakouts. I guess I didn't really care about that. There were days I went to bed with makeup or just used a simple wet wipe to clean the makeup. Reaching to wet wipes is always the easiest option, isn't it? Seeing makeup marks on the pillow cover and looking at the mirror to see panda eyes... Not good memories!

Black Eye Pencil Can be Tricky!

Lining the waterline black and keep fixing it when it fades... I thought black eye pencil on the waterlines made my eyes look bigger and everyone was doing it! Following the crowd is one of the mistakes I did. Just because someone does something doesn't mean that it is right thing to do. Too much black pencil can make you look tired and give you panda eyes. It is not pleasing to look at...

Do not Pop the Pimples

How do you treat the pimples? Is popping them the easiest and most reliable option? I thought when I pop the pimples, it would get better faster. One after another, all it did was causing more spots and spot marks. I can't believe I didn't notice how wrong it was back then.

Dying Your Own Hair

If you know what you're doing, go ahead, but if you are a rookie... Better avoid it, especially lighter colours! It is one of the mistakes which turned my black hair into orange root and grey rest. I still don't know how it happened and in the end I had to pay so much money to hair dresser to get it look decent. They had to cut my hair because it was so damaged and the colouring to get rid of that ugly colour.

Maybe 10 years later, I will look at the photos from today and I question my decisions. Our taste changes, however, nothing will beat these beauty regrets. How was your makeup back in 10-15 years ago? Do you have any beauty regrets which make you question yourself?

Oh, I was a sucker for those little drugstore eyeshadows with the teeny brush applicators! I was 16-17 10 years ago, so obviously I couldn't afford MAC or the nicer brushes...so I would bring the eyeshadows with me to school and apply every few hours. Worse because I didn't have an eyeshadow primer and I thought it was a waste of money! I still do black eye pencil on my lower lashes, but not as heavy-handed. Don't get me started on thin eyebrows...I'm glad I didn't over pluck. My mom over plucked hers because thin brows were the "in" thing in the 70s, but then thick brows came back in the 80s! So I guess beauty/fashion recycles itself. Hannah Floraful

My mum always told me not to pluck my brows as I'd regret later on and I never listened to her. I wish I had then I wouldn't complain about thin brows now!

Haha, I think that we all have some makeup regrets! I can relate to so many of yours... I used to always sleep with my makeup on as well, and what's worse, I didn't know about the existence of a makeup remover so I used to just use actual soap bars on my face to take the makeup off! Complete madness... Good old day haha, NOT! :P This post was a fun read, thank you for sharing, lovely. xoxo Kay http://shoesandglitter.com

Such a great post! Lucky enough, I didn't make all of these mistakes, I didn't do the orange foundation or I didn't sleep with my makeup on for instance yet, I do vividly remember the little eyeshadow sponge applicators and let's just say that, when I was wearing eyeshadow, it was a pretty intense look! As I tend to enhance my natural features more than anything at the moment, I do hope that I will not regret my beauty choices in 10 years times yet we never know, some trends like the brown lips one might have faded away since then... http://fannyanddailybeauty.com

Actually I don't really have any beauty regrets and I'm especially glad I've never plucked my brows! 10-15 years ago I wore very minimal makeup, so there wasn't much room for error. I definitely remember the time when people thought foundation was supposed to make you look tan (I used to think so too, but luckily didn't wear any foundation back then). http://carolinapage.eu

This was such a great post Ela, so unique, I loved it! I have definitely looked back on pictures and thought what the hell was I doing! Sometimes now when I post things on Instagram, I wonder if I'm going to hate the make-up in a year lol. I can definitely relate to not being able to find the right foundation shade. I used to literally pick the shade name that I liked the most haha!! To be fair I was only 15, so that makes me feel the tiniest bit better. Oh and my whole pimple situation in secondary school was a problem. I couldn't help myself but to pop them lol.xx - www.veebzboo.com - www.youtube.com/veebzboo - Metallic Blue Smoky Eye Tutorial

I'm guilty of thin eyebrows. My mum always used to take me to get them threaded and oh my, the eyebrow lady went to town, I think she was competing on whose eyebrows to get thinner, mine or my mums haha. I hated having thin eyebrows, they didn't suit me at all. And sadly over the weekend, two of my spots popped but luckily I quickly applied honey for 20 mins and them rubbed in some vaseline throughout the day. Did the trick in reducing redness. And I believe you shouldn't really pop your pimples if you're not talking about black spots! You need to treat them with anti acne creams.
