Trusty Mascara Review
Are you picky when it comes to picking up a mascara? Or you have one trusty mascara that you keep purchasing all the time? Which category do you fit in? Beauty world offers a lot, however, finding a trusty makeup product is not that easy.
Mascara has to be one of the makeup items that I actually finish. For instance, I can't remember when I finished a foundation or an eyeshadow the last time. When companies bring out different mascaras all the time, I prefer to try new ones, which is understandable. There aren't many mascaras that I repurchase, Maybelline Lash Sensational is one of the few that I keep going back to.
After trying quite a few high end mascaras, I came to a conclusion that you don't need to splurge on it. The Hefty price tag doesn't mean a good quality or a really impressive product. When you spend so much on a product, you expect it to make wonders, don't you? That's why I was let down by those high end mascaras. Your trusty mascara can be a mascara that you got it for a few quid or one that you paid so much... What do you think that makes a mascara a good mascara?
Let's start talking about Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara... It has been out for a few years now and it's loved by many. At first, I really hated it. Wet formula felt so heavy on my lashes. After a few failed attempts, I gave up on that mascara. Luckily, I gave it another chance after waiting for a few months, then it was all great! I think many people had the same issue back then, it must have been the problem with the consistency. At least I don't have to wait for it to dry out now, the formula feels just right.
One of the things I love about this mascara is the wand. The curved shape of the wand is different than the traditional brushes. It is slightly similar to Seventeen Doll'd Up, which I also love and highly recommend! Small bristles are great for bottom lashes and also for giving a little bit lift to the top lashes. The wand applies the perfect amount of mascara and even after one coat, the lashes look volumised.
Some mascara formulas can give you crispy lashes, it is really annoying. Have you ever experienced that? This one doesn't make your lashes crispy but still makes them feel soft! It is easy to layer up and it doesn't get clumpy after 2-3 coats, however, I'm sure 4 would give you clumpy lashes. As I don't believe the lengthening effect of mascaras, I can't say much about this claim. All I can say is, if you didn't try this mascara yet, you should... It might end up being your trusty mascara!
The next mascara I want to try is Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious, I've read great things about it! Have you tried any of these mascaras? What is your trusty mascara? Have you had any good mascara discoveries lately?

I love trying new mascaras but tend to go back to my tried and true ones I love. I typically use Stila Major Major mascara or have recently been trying the better than sex mascara which I loved! Drier formulas are better and they don't make such mess!

I bought Lash Sensational when it was first released and hated it. As you said it was extremely wet and despite waiting for it to dry down, it was still horrid and my lashes stuck together. I bought it again a couple of months ago and I find the formula to be not as wet anymore and I love it from first try! I swear Maybelline has changed the formula. I think companies just change the formula without letting us know. First few months of the first release is the experiment stage to see if people complain or not :)
I've never found a budget mascara that I loved or that performed as well as my favourite high end ones and it's not for the lack of trying! I also find that L'Oreal & Max Factor mascaras are pretty pricey so I'd prefer to pay a bit extra and get what I love. Mascaras can be hit or miss, there are so many mascaras in the drugstore, however, most of them are a let down so I totally understand you! x
I have to give this one a try, I haven't used Maybelline's mascara in quite a while, but the ones I have, like the classic pink and green, tube have always been great! You're so right in saying that price is not always equated with quality. I've tried a number of high end mascaras that were absolutely horrible, but made for pretty vanity decor, haha. The Lash Sensational is for sure my go-to mascara as well! I've repurchased it three times because I go through it so quick. Whenever I try a new one, I always regret it. I just keep going back to this one like you Ela. I definitely think that the drugstore do mascaras the best. I haven't tried a high-end one that I love as much as this! I haven't had much luck with high end mascaras, they were ok, but there wasn't any wow factor so instead of wasting money on mascara, I have my trusty drugstore one that I could rely on :) x

This is one of the best drugstore mascaras, you should definitely check it out!
I like this mascara after a month or so, I also found it too wet at first! I prefer it to the Lash Sensational Luscious but if you prefer slightly clumpier lashes you might like the Luscious version. Maybelline Colossal is my favorite trusty mascara! www.beautyfromkatie.blogspot.com

It is hard to find a mascara that "has it all", at least anything close to perfection is still ok :) I tried it before and I liked it, it is really good!
Most of the time I keep repurchasing the same mascara. It used to be the Too Faced Better Than Sex, but then I switched to the Pupa Vamp, which is basically the same thing but less expensive. I'm surprised to read that you didn't like the consistency at first! For me the Lash Sensational was love at first use :P It is such a good one, I recommend it to pretty much everybody! I agree with you about high-end mascaras, to be honest I've been really disappointed by a YSL mascara and ended up using it to brush my eyebrows instead of my lashes haha. It was so wet and sticky, it gave my clumpy lashes! However now the consistency is perfect, I think they just did a few changes with the formula to get it perfect :) X

Love a trusty mascara! That's one thing which is a must have stable in my makeup bag too! Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara sound perfect and one I haven't tried so must look into it, I will admit I'm a high end makeup girl when it comes to mascaras and reason being I've found it either take ages to dry or have to apply so much for a dramatic result.
