DIY Coffee Scrub for Soft and Hydrated Skin

Don't you love that awakening smell of coffee? Smell that can reset your sense of smell and give you a fresh start... If you love the coffee as much as I do, then you wouldn't mind having coffee scented products, which might be beneficial for your skin. Did you know that coffee scrub is supposed to be good for the cellulite? How about making your own DIY coffee scrub?
We live in a consumer society. We produce and consume, this is a never ending loop! It is easier to get things from the shops, rather than trying to do it yourself, I think we are getting lazier each day, what do you think about it? If you have a coffee machine and consume coffee daily, then you might be left with a good amount of ground coffee. Instead of throwing it and getting coffee scrub from a store, why don't you DIY coffee scrub? You can make your own scrub with the ingredients you already have in your home, trust me it is so easy.
I have a few different DIY coffee scrubs, this time I will be sharing the one that would be good for the transition season, so your body will be protected against the cold. This DIY coffee scrub is so easy and mixture of coffee and coconut smells divine. All you need is 4 ingredients. One of the main elements of this scrub is the coconut oil. It has so many benefits, it is moisturising, good for your hair and also it has anti-aging properties as well. These are just a few of the benefits, in order to find out all the benefits, you should check out 28 Science-Verified Health Benefits of Coconut Oil. After reading this post, you won't skip using coconut oil!
DIY Coffee Scrub
Ingredients
1/2 cup Ground coffee
1/2 cup Virgin coconut oil
1/4 cup Granulated brown sugar (or white)
1/4 cup Light brown sugar
Instruction
- Mix the dry ingredients,
- Add coconut oil and mix it until smooth,
- Put it in a jar, if you make more than one use,
- If you want do have single use cubes, just put them in ice cube trays and freeze them.

As you can see, it is so easy to make and the result is as good as the store bought ones. This one might not be suitable for hot days, because of the amount of coconut oil used. I like to have more powdery consistency in summer, so instead of 1/2 cup coconut oil, I add 1/4 cup or even slightly less. If you don't have coconut oil, you can add 1/4 cup olive oil, it will give you a similar result. Also before using the coffee, I let the ground coffee to dry overnight so it is easier to work with.
Consistency of this coffee scrub is close to Lush Cup O' Coffee , a little sticky and runny. After scrubbing your body, there will be a thin film of coconut oil left. So after a nice scrub you can just shave your legs without having to use any other product. Good things is you won't have any razor burn! Also due to its soothing properties, your skin will be hydrated and smooth. If you don't have much time to get ready, you can skip body lotion.
What's your favourite scrub? Have you ever DIY coffee scrub or any other scrub? Are you into DIY stuff?

You make a very good point - as it becomes easier and easier to buy products ready-made in store, we become less likely to actually do/make things for ourselves! It is like filing your nails. There are two sides of the file, one rough and one fine, so it is the same. One sugar for getting the thicker skin layer and the thin one is kinda for polishing :)
I love testing new face masks, but at the same time I want to save more money and focus on essentials. To be honest, before blogging I was against consumerism and then years later, I found myself in a loophole where I buy and buy. Don`t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with spending your hard worked money, but sometimes I go overboard. I like the idea of making your face mask, I will definitely give it a go. http://www.beautynerd.co.uk
I am the same, now all I want is "buy" even though I don't need the things I want to buy. At least diy masks help me save a little bit of money!
Thanks for sharing! I've tried coffee scrub before and I love how easy yet effective they are! Though the Lush Cup o Coffee is one of the masks that I really want to try!

This is such an interesting idea! I generally love the idea of making things myself. This scrub sounds great but I'm not sure my sensitive skin would love it. Christina ♥ https://caliope-couture.com
If you have sensitive skin, I'd recommend you to use light brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. Light brown sugar feels softer and it won't irritate the skin.
