Primers are good for perfecting the skin’s texture, colour and improve the longevity of the makeup. Even though they can do a lot, I know many of us skip that step of the makeup. It is an extra step which maybe you don’t have time for or extra step that doesn’t make any difference whether you do it or not. In my case, it is some of both. Can a hydration primer like Autograph Hydrating Confidence Boost Primer change my mind?

Primers can be like foundations… Finding the right foundation might not be that easy, it applies to the primer as well. Finding the right primer might be more difficult than you think. I still couldn’t find the ultimate primer that works for my skin… Some of them are too heavy and they get my already oily skin oilier. It is not ideal, is it?

Autograph Hydrating Confidence Boost Primer is the 22nd product of M&S Advent Calendar. Since Autograph is M&S’s own brand, they had another Autograph product in the advent calendar.

Autograph Hydrating Confidence Boost Primer is designed to boost the moisture level of the skin and give the smooth invisible finish. It helps complexion to look plump and the makeup to last longer.

The texture of this primer is a little different than the ones I’ve tried. It is more on the liquidy side and it is absorbed quickly. This primer feels more like a serum-primer. It is fragrance-free as well! Most of the primers I’ve used, apart from the oil one, has the classic silicone texture. Silicone primers can be a hit or miss, some tend to clog the pores which then causes skin issues. I haven’t had any issues like that with this primer. I could only recommend keeping the skincare routine simpler and don’t choose heavy products. When I use heavier products before the primer, my skin tends to get shinier quicker.

It slightly improves the longevity of the makeup. Well, it doesn’t claim to improve the longevity of the makeup for so many hours anyway, so I wasn’t expecting much of it. I just like how smooth it makes my skin and the foundation sits well on the skin.

Autograph Hydrating Confidence Boost Primer is £12.50 for 30 ml. It is a good and affordable primer. It definitely gives hydration and silky smooth skin before the foundation application. When you have makeup-free days, you can even use it as the last step to have smoother complexion.
